About the book

What's inside

Seventy-five word searches about the season itself, with no holidays: winter birds at the feeder, soup on the stove, snowed in, ice fishing, the card table, jigsaw puzzle night, frost on the window, the library in winter and the February thaw. It is a book for anyone who likes winter best from inside a warm house. The theme is at the top of the page, and every word in the list belongs to it. Every puzzle gets its own two-page spread. The word list sits on the left in alphabetical order, and the grid has the whole right-hand page to itself, so nothing is squeezed and no puzzle is split across a turn of the page. The grids are fifteen letters square, set in 31-point bold type with capitals 7.7 millimeters tall, and the word list is larger still, about 8.7 millimeters. The book is in three sections: thirty easy puzzles where words run only across and down, thirty medium puzzles that add the diagonals, and fifteen hard puzzles where words can run in any of eight directions, including backwards. Every answer is written out in plain words at the back, giving the row, the column it starts in and the direction it runs. Fourteen words to a puzzle, 1,050 in all. Black ink on white paper, 8.5 by 11 inches, 204 pages, with a wide inside margin so the book lies open. Published under the Good Light Press imprint by K. Terry, part of the Good Light Large Print series.

No. It is about winter itself, with no holidays, so it suits the whole season from the first snowfall to the February thaw. Big Print Christmas Word Search is the holiday book in the same series.
